Map to the Arne Slettebak OSU Planetarium

Location

The Arne Slettebak OSU Planetarium is located on the 5th floor of Smith Laboratory at the approximate street address of 174 W 19th Ave, on the OSU Main Campus in Columbus, Ohio.

Our main and accessible entrance is through the doors of Smith Laboratory on the northeast corner. Once you enter, you will take the northeast elevator (or the stairs) up to the 5th floor. This is the ONLY elevator that reaches the 5th floor. Stairwells on the north-side of the building all reach the 5th floor. After business hours, building doors other than the accessible door on the NE side will likely be locked. If you got on the wrong elevator or took the wrong stairs, work your way to the northeast corner of the building and go to the 5th floor to get to the planetarium. Please plan on arriving at least 5-10 minutes before the planetarium shows, since the doors will be closed and locked once the show starts.

Parking

There is no parking available at Smith Laboratory itself. Public parking garages are located nearby on the OSU campus, with parking available off High Street, for a small fee. We recommend the Tuttle Garage, Lane Ave Garage, or Ohio Union Garage which are open to visitors during the day. Arps Garage is most convenient during non-peak hours. Please note that construction and events significantly impact access to various garages, so please allow additional time to reach the planetarium at all times of year. We do not know of all closures and events so it is good practice to always be prepared leaving extra time and checking the CampusParc website before attending.

Parking fees for academic campus garages are $4.75 for one hour and $8.00 for 2 hours. Please see OSU CampusParc Garage Parking details. Surface lots are cheaper but are farther away.

Surface lot parking is available for $2.25 per hour. Please see OSU CampusParc Surface Parking details.

Bus Parking

OSU's CampusParc lets school buses park in any unrestricted space (which excludes disability, reserved, or hourly spaces) at no charge if they have city, county, state, or any other government license plate. CampusParc would prefer that buses park/stage in the Scarlet and Gray Lots near the Schottenstein Center (assuming there are no events taking place at the Schott) between dropping off and picking up. Please call CampusParc if you need alternative bus parking as many drivers already park in various places on campus. Let the planetarium staff know if you need help organizing your group's bus parking.

For additional information, please contact CampusParc directly at 614-688-0000.

Accessibility

The Arne Slettebak OSU Planetarium is accessible to persons in wheelchairs via the northeast elevator in Smith Laboratory. This is nearest the access ramp located ONLY at the northeast entrance to the building. This is also the only door that is guaranteed to be unlocked. Once inside, please follow the signs to the northeast elevator to go to the 5th floor. Please let your show presenter know if the elevator is out for some reason. We will take care of you and your show even if we have to reschedule at no charge.

In case of an elevator outage, for groups who must use the elevator, we will reschedule at no cost when the elevator is back in service. For those with limited mobility but can do one flight of stairs, we recommend using the elevator at the SW of the building to get to the 4th floor and then take the stairs at the NE end to the 5th floor and the planetarium itself. We will post on our front page if there is currently a known outage.

The Slettebak Planetarium has a number of features available for students with accessibility needs.  Please see our accessibility page for details or email us if you have special requirements.
